Most Awesome Places
I have done a lot of traveling around the US and Canada and have seen some really awesome scenery. I am sure that many other s have and simliar experiences here and around the world. Name 5 places that you that when you saw them left you in a state of awe. Mine are as follows:
1. The Grand Canyon - Can't explain how it felt you have to be there to know.
2. Devils Tower - Close Encounters of the Third Kind
3. Mesa Verde - Never felt os Spirtual until I entered an ancient Kiva
4. Crater Lake - The Bluest Blue you could ever imagine.
5. Waterton/Glacier International Park - The Road to the Sun( can't say much more)
There are so many others but I said 5 and I will keep to it. Please post your most awesome places.

Amanohashidate, Japan (one of the 3 most beautiful places in japan---says the japanese, and yes I have been to all three).
Sanibal Island, Florida---right after Wilma came thru---the sheer amount of huge shells was pretty astonishing (as was the total LACK of people---you would understand if you had ever been there).
Lake Louise, BC?....standing at the bottom of the glacier....a wonderful sight.
Glacier bay, Alaska....on a boat looking at a huge glacier--see above.
someplace just north of the arctic circle in Sweden---the northern lights....pretty awesome.

Mine would have to be Luzerne Switzerland. Absolutely gorgeous city with gorgeous scenery.
Second on the list would be Glacier Bay, I agree with Cosy.
Third, I'd have to give a nod to the Amazon Basin and River, simply because the South American rainforest is absolutely amazing; beyond words.
Last, I would say Crater Lake, in total agreement with Risky. It has this sense of being almost too serene, adding a bit of discomfort to its beauty. It gives you that feeling that the universe is just bigger than you can imagine, and it is capable of creating beautiful sites despite the devasation required to make them.

Agree with this, it's just fabulous. Pilatus, the buildings, the lake, everything.
Some other places I have enjoyed:
Milan, Italy. - The size of the Duomo Di Milano cathedral is awe inspiring. The Castello Sfozesco and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele are pretty neat aswell. Gelato and proper Pizza by far exceed Tip Top and Dominoes.
Fiordland, New Zealand. - Beautiful sceanery, even better if manage to catch one of the 2 days a year the weather is nice.
Dubai, UAE. - The amount of construction is staggering, they have over 50% of the worlds cranes I belive. The height of the Burj Dubai is amazing.
Franz Josef Glacier, New Zealand. - Superb visuals looking at the glacier and simply awsome to go hiking, climing and caving on it.
